It was a very cold Saturday in Dam Square, Amsterdam on September 13, 2025. The sharp, biting cold outside stood in complete contrast to the warm determination in our hearts — and it felt like the right moment to set up our small “Who is Imam Mahdi” booth. We started our activity on the Prophet’s birth anniversary while images of some of the most brutal recent injustices were displayed at the stand.
Photos of innocent children from Gaza — victims of violence and global injustice — led people toward our booth. That became the starting point for conversations with passersby.
The “Who is Imam Mahdi” campaign was there to introduce Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) as humanity’s savior and a symbol of divine justice. Our display mostly combined the Palestinian flag with photos showing the suffering left behind by the Israeli regime. Alongside these symbols of pain, we handed out brochures explaining who Imam Mahdi is and the philosophy behind his expected return.
Dutch and international visitors in Dam Square approached the booth with curiosity. At first, most questions focused on the crimes they’d seen: “How can the international community ignore the genocide in Gaza?”
Our answer always came back to one central point: the absence of a just leader. We explained that the ultimate solution to this injustice lies in the appearance of a savior.
Even though our stay in Dam Square was short, it made clear that the message of Islam and the call for global justice aren’t limited by borders or time. Gaza’s cry echoes the suffering of humanity—and we believe the final answer to that suffering is tied to the promised savior’s appearance.
