The Course of History Moving Towards the Advent of the Promised One

Before the creation of humanity, God created the Imam and guide of humanity and laid the groundwork for the course of history moving towards humanity's ultimate purpose. The mission of the prophets throughout history has been to lead humanity towards the establishment of a divine government, in which individuals grow and develop according to their true human nature and the purpose of their creation. In fact, if human civilization does not recognize and believe in the true and eternal essence of humanity and lacks a plan for human growth in this regard, it will hold no value or benefit in the eyes of God. The mission of the prophets has been to guide humanity towards the promised future and to ensure the safety of individuals on this path. The vision of the future world from the perspective of all prophets is the establishment of that promised divine government, and the mission of the prophets and their followers throughout history has been to spread hope for a brighter future on Earth and to strive towards realizing this future. History has traversed a challenging path to reach the promised future, and without understanding this journey, it will be impossible to have an impact or play a role in it. All heavenly prophets have promised a peaceful world free of darkness for the future. This promise has yet to be fulfilled after centuries, and humanity still awaits this promised future.

A future that establishes the rule of the righteous for humanity will be filled with growth and monotheism, and with the removal of oppressors and tyrants from the world, ultimately human beings will be prepared for the divine leadership of the Promised Imam and can reach their highest human potential and growth under divine guidance.

The Savior in the Course of History

From an Islamic perspective, in both divine and non-divine religions, there is only one savior: The Promised One who will guide humanity to its ultimate destination in creation. This Savior has a global mission and is not solely the savior of Muslims. From the viewpoint of divine religions, the savior is that perfect human who bears the responsibility of guiding humanity towards becoming similar to God, and his advent will put an end to all tumult in the world.

Why have all divine and non-divine religions always looked towards the future and trained their followers with an eye on a promised future?

What is the position of the savior in divine and non-divine religions? What responsibilities and duties does he hold in various faiths?

What differences and similarities exist regarding the savior in different religions, and can we derive an assessment of the desirable characteristics attributed to him across various faiths?

The Role of Divine Prophets in the Course of History

Interested in unlocking the secrets of history? You've likely asked yourself these questions. We've answered them all right here in this section of our site.

The Final Stage of the Course of History

The historical movement of humanity culminated in the Arabian Peninsula and the scorching deserts of Hijaz, where the last prophet of God was born. This prophet, whose name is mentioned in many heavenly scriptures, was recognized by the leaders and scholars of divine religions as the seal of prophecy. The birth of the Prophet of Islam marks the end of divine revelation and the flow of prophetic messages from the unseen, heralding the beginning of the path of leadership (Imamate). This event is one of the greatest occurrences in history, signaling the approach of the promised future for all religions.

The awaited Imam and Savior of divine religions is a descendant of the Prophet of Islam (Peace be upon him and his family), and to understand Imam Mahdi (Peace be upon him), the first step is to become acquainted with the history of early Islam, its events, and the life of the noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him and his family) along with his family.

The Course of History After Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

With the passing of the Messenger of God (Peace be upon him and his family) in 11 AH, a tumultuous era of Imamate for the infallible Imams began. The leadership and authority of the Prophet's family faced significant challenges from the very first moments after his death. These challenges diverted the Islamic community from its correct path towards the maturation of Islamic civilization, to the extent that little remained of the seedling of Islamic civilization that had been planted by the Prophet. Throughout this time, all efforts of the infallible Imams were directed toward preserving the Islamic community and preparing once again for the establishment of an Islamic civilization and government in the future, once the Islamic community was ready.

The tumultuous history of Islam from 11 AH until the occultation of Imam Mahdi (Peace be upon him) in 260 AH can be viewed as a single entity. This entity represents the existence of the Islamic community under the nurturing guidance of the Imams and their authority, often referred to as the "250-year-old human." The period of Imamate can be perceived as a 250-year human life that has a clear objective and has taken actions at various stages according to environmental and temporal conditions. Analyzing this period in the life of this 250-year-old human is only possible if we interpret the lives of the Imams based on their overarching goal: establishing an Islamic government.

The Strategy of Prophets for Shaping the Future Promised by Religions

The Strategy of Prophets for Shaping the Future Promised by Religions

“Truth will surely prevail over falsehood” – this is the definition offered by the Quran, illuminating the approach of divine prophets and proponents of truth in their confrontation with falsehood. Followers of divine religions, if truly on the Straight Path, do not initiate conflict; they are only commanded to defend. By nurturing truth within their inner world, and essentially aligning their entire being with the Straight Path, believers contribute to the triumph of truth over falsehood and align with God’s will for the future of the world. Therefore, the method of divine prophets has been to cultivate truth-seeking and righteous individuals to empower the front of truth, until the day when truth attains sufficient strength to integrate falsehood within itself.

62. “Of course, we have time and again announced that in our foreign policy we plan to expand the influence of Islam in the world and curb the hegemony of the world-devourers. Now, if American agents label this policy as expansionism and idea of establishing a great empire, we welcome and are not afraid of it. We are in pursuit of desiccating the rotten roots of Zionism, capitalism, and communism in the world. With the help and favor of God Almighty, we have decided to annihilate all systems that are formidably standing on these three pillar; and to propagate Islamic system of the Messenger of Allah (s) in the world of arrogance. Sooner or later, the nations in chains will bear witness to it.”

63. Imam Khomeini’s Last Will and Testament

64. “We will try our best to prevent the expansion of black-mail and immunity of American agents even if it takes the form of violent struggle. God willing, we will not allow cry for compromise with America, the Soviet Union, disbelief, and polytheism be shouted at the Kabah and Hajj—this great pulpit that should resound the outcry of the oppressed to be reflected to the entire world and reverberating the call of monotheism. We implore God to grant us the power to toll the death knell of America and the Soviet Union not only at the Kabah of the Muslims but also at the churches in the world.”

66. “The Muslims and deprived people of the world should feel a sense of pride and freedom from this endless purgatory our Islamic revolution has created for all world-devourers. Muslims should cry for freedom and liberation in their lives and destinies and salve it on their wounds as the era of impasse, hopelessness and breathing in milieu of disbelief is over. The rose-garden of liberation of nations is blossoming. I hope that Muslims would look to the lovely buds of freedom, fragrant breeze of spring and fresh flowers of love and affection. The limpid spring of your resolution is simmering. We should all come out of the quagmire, silence, and inertia implanted by American and Soviet functionaries who have spread the seed of death and captivity.”

67. Imam Khomeini’s Last Will and Testament

68. “We continue upholding restoration of the rights of deprived people in human societies up to the last drop of blood. Today, the world is thirsty of the culture of pure Muhammadan Islam. In a grand Islamic organization, the Muslims will destroy the prosperity, sustenance and luster of the Red and White Houses. Today, Khomeini has opened his breast for the bullets of calamity and difficult events and in facing all the cannons and missiles of the enemies. Similarly, all the lovers of martyrdom are counting days for attaining martyrdom. Our war is an ideological war and recognizes no geography or border. In our ideological war we must undertake a general mobilization of the soldiers of Islam in the world.”

When they see that, they will put their swords on their shoulders and will be given what they asked for, but they will not accept it until they hand it over to the one among you who is the sahib al-amr (Master of the Command). The Momineen servants of Allah will be gathering to it awaiting Muhammad and his intercession for the Qiyamah, and the Reckoning.
