People in the Netherlands hold rallies in support of Palestine from time to time, and each time, the number of participants seems to grow. On the day we set up the Imam Mahdi campaign booth, it happened to coincide with one of these marches. As the marchers passed by, many stopped for friendly chats with us. Young people, in particular, who were more aware of the Palestinian cause, showed more interest in our materials. The design and slogan on our clothing sparked even more curiosity among the people.
One Dutch woman approached and asked, “What does ‘Who is Mahdi?’ on your shirt mean? Is it the descendant of Muhammad?” This question opened up a chance for us to explain who Mahdi is and share more about our campaign’s purpose. We agreed that someone must rise to save the world, bring justice, and eliminate oppression. We talked about how this leader would be responsible for all nations and religions.
While handing out brochures and flyers along the march route, we also offered refreshments. At one point, an Iranian man joined us for a brief conversation. He was from the opposition and was firm in his belief that the Islamic Republic had betrayed the Iranian people. We spoke with him and explained that Iran today has gained strength and independence and is no longer afraid of its enemies. We also pointed out how the media works hard to portray us as weak and backward with Islamophobic coverage. The only thing we really agreed on was the destruction of Israel. That was our common ground.
And of course, the end of global arrogance—meaning the land will be inherited by the righteous.
