What Is the British Shiism and Why Are They Portraying Shiism as Violent?
The terms “British Shiism” and “American Islam” may be unfamiliar to many non-Muslims, but understanding them can clarify misconceptions about Muslims, particularly Shias. Questions are often raised regarding practices such as self-flagellation during Muharram or the injuring of children’s heads with knives—what kind of religion endorses such behavior?
This article seeks to define British Shiism, focusing on its most notable example: The Shirazi family, supported by Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi. A network whose misguided and conspiratorial belief is promoted in the name of mourning, as well as their altering the key instructions of Shiism, particularly regarding unity between Shia and Sunni, leadership, jihad, and resistance. It argues how Zionists distorted the core beliefs of Shia, transforming a vibrant faith into a passive one that aligns with oppressive agendas; by spreading the concept of British Shiism, they undermine genuine Shia identity and effectiveness. Backed by credible documents and statements from the leaders of British Shiism, this paper outlines their promotional strategies.
When efforts to undermine the sanctity of holy figures and divine saints failed, malevolent forces sought to depict their followers as repugnant. The Party of Satan has historically struggled to impose a media blackout on these individuals, especially following the event of Ashura, as they aimed to prevent Imam Hussain’s (PBUH) message of resistance against oppression from reaching a global audience. They initiated a movement reminiscent of the followers of the Household of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), positioning themselves as champions of Shiism to mislead the world and divert people from the truth [1].
The Zionist-backed British Shiism operates through a powerful network stretching from the Middle East to England and America, not only opposing Muslims but also humanity as a whole. Their tactics of concealing or distorting reality, manipulating public opinion, and sowing discord represent a profound betrayal of all people.
Literal Meaning of British Shiism
The term “British Shiism” was used by the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei (May God protect him) for the first time [2], and it means a school of thought that is originated and is supported by Britain. It is a safe religion for Zionists because it poses no threats to Israel, America, and any other imperialist power. It has nothing to do with the oppressed children and women in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, or any other parts of the world and essentially believes religion has nothing to do with politics while it fully serves the Zionist policies [3]. British Shiism may refer to any fabricated extremist sect established by Britain to sow division among Muslims or to foster Islamophobia. This includes groups such as Babism, the Baha’i faith, the Shirazi sect, and individuals who falsely claim authority, such as Imam Ahmad al-Hassan. However, this term is widely used for the sect led by Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi today. However, this term is widely used for the sect led by Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi today.
The Shirazi Family
Ayatollah Mirza Mahdi al-Shirazi was one of the clerics in Karbala, having four sons named Mohammad, Hassan, Sadiq, and Mujtaba [4].
The Shirazi family is attempting to trace their lineage back to the esteemed Mirza Shirazi, known for his anti-imperialist fatwa against tobacco, in a bid to enhance their credibility and legitimacy. However, their lineage actually goes back to Mirza Habibullah Shirazi, the brother of Mirza Shirazi [5].
Mohammad al-Shirazi
After Mirza Mahdi’s death, Sayyid Mohammad claimed authority but faced opposition and scholarly rejection from the great authorities of that time, including his teacher Ayatollah Yusuf Khorasani Haeri (RA), Ayatollah Sayyid Mahmoud Shahroudi (RA), Martyr Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammad Baqer Sadr (RA), and Grand Ayatollah Abu al-Qasim al-Khoei (RA), one of the valuable scholars of Najaf Seminary at the time. Interestingly, it is said that Sayyid Muhammad was not even forty years old at that time. He was one of the followers of Imam Khomeini (RA), who was exiled to Najaf by the imperial Pahlavi regime of Iran, or at least he claimed so. Sayyid Muhammad even gave his prayer position to Imam Khomeini (RA) and imitated him in prayer. But over time, he and his other three brothers became opponents of Imam Khomeini, and even after the Islamic Revolution, under the security created by Islamic Iran, they continued to oppose the Revolution in the seminary of Qom [6].
Hasan al-Shirazi
Sayyid Hassan was an active figure in the struggle against the Ba’ath Party in Iraq. When the regime’s repression intensified, he left Iraq upon the recommendation of Mustafa Khomeini, the son of Imam Khomeini (RA), and went to Syria, subsequently expanding his activities in Lebanon and Egypt.
According to evidence, his good relationship with Imam Musa Sadr and martyr Chamran did not last long. Martyr Chamran, who was then engaged in defending Palestine and assisting its resistance against enemies, mentioned in a letter to Imam Musa Sadr that Hassan Shirazi had resorted to bribing sheikhs and youths to oppose this movement, ridiculing the martyrs who were defending Palestine. Existing documents indicate that he later met a representative of SAVAK (the Zionist-made Bureau for Intelligence and Security of Iran during the time of the Shah) and expressed his willingness to cooperate in undermining the Resistance Front while conveying his heartfelt loyalty to the then Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Documents show that Sayyid Hassan relayed confidential information about the Resistance Front to SAVAK.
In 1976, with the confirmation of Sayyid Hassan’s conspiracy and deviation, Imam Khomeini (RA) publicly prohibited Shias from contributing any religious dues to him. Nevertheless, following the news of his assassination by the Ba’ath Party, Imam Khomeini extended condolences to his family [7].
Sadiq al-Shirazi
Following the death of Sayyid Mohammad, his younger brother Sayyid Sadiq effectively stepped into his role and claimed leadership of the Shirazi family. The family’s attempts to establish and validate their authority began during Sayyid Mohammad’s time, which set the stage for Sayyid Sadiq’s rise. After their father’s passing, despite facing opposition from notable religious figures, the Shirazis managed to gain significant influence among the clergy in Karbala. They successfully organized and distributed a statement throughout Iraq and Kuwait, which significantly shifted the power dynamics in their favor. This maneuver allowed the Shirazis to assert that religious authority was a hereditary matter within their family. With a robust media network at their disposal, they conferred the title “Grand Ayatollah” upon Sayyid Sadiq! However, this family’s religious authority has never been acknowledged by scholars in Qom and Najaf [8].
In fact, Zionists are attempting to promote Sadiq Shirazi, the leader of the deviant British Shiism—as a religious authority for Shias. Their goal is twofold: to render Shias ineffective and inactive while negatively influencing global perceptions of Shiism. Although this plan appears to have encountered setbacks following the Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7 and the Shias’ solo defense of the oppressed in Palestine.
Mujtaba al-Shirazi
The younger brother has also shown his treachery by serving his masters. After the Islamic Revolution succeeded, Mujtaba Shirazi quickly relocated to England, settled in London, and began acting against the true teachings of Shiism in line with the desires of its adversaries. Sayyid Mujtaba Shirazi has not hesitated to insult the sanctities of Muslims, including Sunnis, and has disrespected esteemed Islamic scholars like Ayatollah Khamenei (May God Protect him) and Ayatollah Bahjat (RA) through satellite networks linked to the Shirazis [9].
British Shiism Sayings and Promotions
The predetermined objectives of British Shiism include creating divisions among Muslims, portraying Shias negatively under the guise of mourning, opposing Islamic Republic of Iran, and distorting the authentic foundations of Shiism, such as jihad and resistance. Each of these strategies is elaborated upon below.
Regarding Mourning for Imam Hussain (PBUH)
This represents one of the most effective achievements of Zionists in portraying Shiism as violent, bloodthirsty, and foolish globally. When Googling “Shia,” one often encounters images of individuals in distressing states—naked, bloodied, and injured. Why do they behave this way? They are mourning Imam Hussain (PBUH), the third Imam of the Shia! This is precisely the image that discourages non-Muslims from exploring Shiism or learning about the largest peaceful gathering, the Arbaeen Walk, centered around this Imam; instead, it repels them.
Meanwhile, Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi encourages young Shias to engage in self-harm during these mourning rituals [10], even though esteemed Shia scholars have declared such acts forbidden and condemned them strongly [11]. Interestingly, while the British government opposes any public religious ceremonies among Shias, there are indications of collaboration with the Shirazi sect, even dividing swords between mourners [12] and preparing ambulances in advance for transporting individuals to hospitals [13]! (Fig.1)
Regarding Sunnis
As seen in figure 1, The division between Shia and Sunni Islam is a significant area where British Shiism network actively plans and operates. This movement, led by Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi, has been known to insult the sanctities of Sunni Islam, including Aisha, wife of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as his companions, such as Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman. Their organization conducts a so-called Week of Bara’a [a] getting the headline of many newspapers [14], which goes against the fundamental Islamic teachings that advocate for brotherhood and friendship not just among Muslims but among all of humanity. Unfortunately, some unsuspecting and uninformed Muslims have fallen victim to this rhetoric.
The Zionist movement has strategically placed divisive agents in the Middle East, complicating efforts for Western audiences, especially non-Muslims, to discern the truth. On one side, they provoke the Shirazis to spread animosity against Sunnis, while on the other, Zionist Wahhabis exploit these sentiments to act against Shias [15].
In reality, neither British Shiism nor Wahhabis authentically represent their respective sects within Islam. There is even credible evidence suggesting that the division between Shia and Sunni Muslims is part of a broader Zionist conspiracy, reminiscent of how they fractured the unity of Christians and fabricated sects within that ancient religion [16].
Regarding the Islamic Republic of Iran and Its Leadership
The animosity of the Shirazi family toward Islamic Iran transcends mere political disagreements or resentment towards its leadership; it is fundamentally ideological. The Islamic Republic is seen as the primary adversary of Zionism and has consistently demonstrated its unwillingness to compromise with such forces throughout history. In contrast, the Shirazi sect acts in service to Zionists’ interests while receiving financial backing from them. Historical documents indicate that the Shirazis have long aspired to lead the Shia community since the early days following the Islamic Revolution [17], which may have contributed to their incitement by Zionists entities. Close associates of Sayyid Sadiq have revealed that his hostility toward the Islamic Republic and its Supreme Leader is so extreme that he has declared that whatever Ayatollah Khamenei (May God protect him) issues a fatwa (global religious law regarding an issue), he will issue the opposite [18]! This statement further illustrates the Shirazi sect’s agenda to create discord among Muslims. (Fig. 1)
Regarding Jihad, Resistance, and Fighting against Zionists
British Shiism represents a version of Shiism that poses no threat to Zionism. Followers of the Shirazi movement often abandon the concept of jihad under the pretext of taqiyya which means “permission of hiding one’s true faith, not for the sake of expediency, but when there is danger to one’s own life, property, or honor or to that of another believer” [19]. They show indifference to various forms of oppression and atrocities occurring worldwide, whether in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen or Afghanistan and remain silent in defense of innocent people.
This apathy extends to issues concerning the sanctity of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT) who are revered as the most sacred figures in Shiism, like the time ISIS attacked the holy shrines in Syria [20]. While they encourage mourning for Imam Hussain (PBUH), who was martyred in 61 AH, they remain silent about the oppression done to the Imam of the Time (AJ), regarding his usurped right of ruling over the people of the world. That is, they do not attempt to lay the groundwork for the advent of Imam Mahdi (AJ), the Promised Savior [21], but rather they do not consider America, England and Israel [22] _ the devils who hinder the fulfillment of divine tradition on earth_ as enemies. Instead, they adopt aspects of their lifestyles as models [23]. (Fig. 1)
Fig. 1. The Goals of British Shiism
Some Other Leaders of the British Shiism Network
The British Shiism Network is made up of many individuals who work directly or indirectly, deliberately or unconsciously, to fulfill the sect’s goals. The following sections introduce two of its most prominent leaders who have admitted to embracing the Shirazi sect.
Yasser Al-Habib
Yasir al Habib is considered one of the key figures in the British Shiism network. He is the son-in-law of Sayyid Mujtaba, who manages the Fadak satellite channel. He came to Iran at the age of 17, underwent training with Shirazis, and then returned to Kuwait, where he established the Khoddam al-Mahdi group and the Al-Manbar Magazine. His insults toward Sunnis sanctities reached such a level that the government of Kuwait imprisoned him; however, evidence suggests he spent only three months in prison and was released due to England’s influence. England identified him as a valuable asset, granted him asylum, and issued licenses for all his activities as a “Shia cleric” [24]! According to a report by the Daily Mail, Yasir al Habib purchased an abandoned church for £2 million with London’s support and made it the center of his activities [25]. His insulting remarks about Sunni sanctities and even high-ranking Shia authorities such as Imam Khomeini (RA), Ayatollah Sistani (May God protect him), Allameh Tabatabayi (RA), Ayatollah Hakim (RA), and others raised significant concerns about division among Muslims [26]. Following public requests for the UK’s government to prevent such divisive activities, the Media Supervision Commission in England stated that due to these programs being broadcast outside the United Kingdom, they cannot take action against them [27]!
The Lady of Heaven 2021
One notable project by Yasir al Habib is the film The Lady of Heaven, which apparently aims to depict the oppression faced by Lady Fatima Zahra (PBUH), the daughter of the Prophet (PBUH). However, beneath its surface, the film seems to pursue a more insidious agenda. Released in 2021, The Lady of Heaven portrays extremist takfiri (one Muslim declaring another Muslim, or any individual, as a non-believer, i.e., kafir [28]) groups, such as ISIS, as representative of Sunnis, suggesting that violence is their inherent trait. The film tries to communicate that division between Muslims is inevitable, implying that genuine unity is unattainable.
It also suggests that Sunnis cannot truly love the Ahl al-Bayt (PEACE BE UPON THEM) [20]. While, whether people realize it or not, the household of Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON THEM) is the holy family of all humanity. This reality is obvious today in gatherings such as the Arbaeen Walk, which brings together millions of Shia, Sunni, and even non-Muslim pilgrims to honor Imam Hussain (PBUH).
A Private Town for Promoting Shiism!
In 2012, while many people in England were struggling to make ends meet, the UK government allocated a large town in a pleasant area of London to Yasir al Habib. This move was intended to help him expand his activities and, in his view, guide the people of England. He even trained a group of misguided individuals in military uniforms with ambitions of conquering Saudi Arabia and liberating the Al-Baqi Cemetery [30]. However, this will never happen, as both British Shiism and Saudi Wahhabis act as servants of Zionism, and their rivalry appears staged and superficial. This serves as a convenient excuse for British Shiism, who often mock the Resistance Front, particularly Hezbollah, insisting that before any progress can be made, Al-Baqi must first be liberated, followed by Palestine [31]! (Fig. 1)
Hasan Allahyari
Hasan Allahyari is a young Afghan who, according to Press TV’s cleric expert, was accepted into the Qom seminary after several mediations and only studied there for four years, but now he calls himself Allama (a profound scholar in Islam) [32]! Allahyari’s instructions are the same as those given to other members of the British Shiism network: use profanity and obscene terms in his network in the name of the Ahl al-Bayt (PEACE BE UPON THEM), create division between Shias and Sunnis, and defend the United States as a country with free speech [33]!
Allahyari has also consistently opposed the Islamic Republic and does not believe in the protection of Palestine or the Resistance Front, to the extent that he publicly ridiculed and insulted the defenders of the holy shrines in Syria during the conflict with ISIS (Fig. 1). His ideals are very similar to those of the Hojjatiyeh Society [34]; nevertheless, the Hojjatiyeh Society is a fictitious Zionist group created for Shias in Iran [35]. Because both of these groups were designed by Zionists, their foundations are naturally similar. The contrast in their rhetoric and behavior is always obvious in Zionist false deviant groups.
It could be interesting to know that “Ayatollah Allahyari” has recently changed his appearance from a holy-looking priest to a person wearing a suit and tie.
Revealed Documents Regarding the Relationship Between British Shiism and Queen Elizabeth II, CIA, and Israel
The extensive funding of the Shirazi sect by England and the U.S., and the pro-Zionist statements of their leaders, including Yasir al Habib, require little investigation to understand. Yasir al Habib announced on a satellite channel that Queen Elizabeth II is from the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUHT) and that no one has the right to criticize her [36]! However, he later attempted to deny his claim with hollow justifications [37]. Nevertheless, there is ample documentation to prove this connection and support. This includes a plan by a CIA senior officer named Scott Modell, which emphasizes the necessity of supporting Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi to counter Iran [38].
Support from prominent pro-Israel figures in England, including Jay Stoll and Lara Marks of the Jewish Chronicle, for the establishment of the Shirazi sect’s Hazrat Rasul Akram Hussainiyah (a center for Shia religious practices and commemoration ceremonies) in London further demonstrates the sect’s ties to the Zionist movement. In response to objections from Jews regarding the construction of a Hussainiyah attributed to Muslims in Golders Green, Zionists stated that this place belongs to Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi and has nothing to do with Ayatollah Khomeini, or Quds Day[b], thus there is no cause for concern. Interestingly, it was decided that in this Hussainiyah, with the agreement of Zionists, Shia individuals would not only perform mourning rituals but also walk on hot coals or thorns [39]!
Historical Relations Between the Shirazi Famiy and Zionists
The roots of Zionist infiltration into Shia thought and the emergence of this deviant sect within Shiism can be traced back to Mirza Shirazi’s fatwa against tobacco. At that time, the influential authority of the Shia was effectively able to counteract the imperialistic ambitions of British Zionists and thwart their plans. In response to this authentic Shia ideology, which rejected any form of oppression or imperialism from Zionists, a false ideology was constructed—one that superficially resembled Shia but lacked its core principles and values. Consequently, connections began to form between certain clerics, including members of the Shirazi family, and British officials [40]. Years later, evidence emerged indicating that Iranian SAVAK agents held meetings at Sayyid Mohammad Shirazi’s residence in Kuwait [41].
Promotional Methods
The Shirazi sect, like other Zionist-supported groups, uses both modern and traditional means to recruit more Shiites.
Extensive Virtual and Physical Presence
The Shirazis seem to be everywhere these days. It is surprisingly hard to find English-language sources that speak critically about them or reflect the reality of their influence. Their presence is undeniable, whether online or along the Arbaeen Pilgrimage route. In fact, the best and most well-equipped tents along the pilgrimage route are run by the Shirazis, proudly displaying a banner of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi [42]! They have a strong network in Karbala and view Imam Hussain (PBUH) as a central figure in their beliefs, even considering themselves the true revivers of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage [43]!
Numerous Satellite Channels
British Shiism, which is supported by the Zionists in the UK and the United States, is steadily increasing the number of satellite channels bearing Shia names. Imam Hussain 1,2,3, Al-mahdi, Al Abbas, AlZahra, Ahlebait, Fadak, and several other networks are among the 16 stations airing in Persian, Arabic, and English 24 hours a day, seven days a week to promote British Shiism, according to the most recent statistics from 2015 [44]. Interestingly, the majority of these channels do not run commercials, but it begs the issue of how they support the development of satellite channels with such bandwidth and staff costs, especially as the number of networks grows with improved quality and larger reception range [45].
Seminaries and Cultural Centers
British Shiism has taken use of Shias’ love and admiration for Imam Hussain (PBUH), notably in Iraq and Iran to open several seminaries designed for training the clergy who preach deviant ideas. These include the “Muassisat al Rasul al Azam Assaqafiaya” [46] and “Markaz Assaqafi al Islami” [47].
Authoring Books
The deviant network of British Shiism has not ignored the function of books and periodicals in spreading its radical and divisive ideas. Members of this network, from leaders such as Sayyid Sadiq Shirazi and Yasir al Habib to lower-level associates, have spent a significant amount of time authoring and publishing books among Muslims in order to effectively disseminate hatred. One famous example is Yasir al Habib’s filthy and untrue book on Prophet Muhammad’s wife, Aisha [48].
Abuse of People’s Poverty
In this section, it appears sufficient to note that Yasir al-Habib, in one of his channels, invites the Shias to curse Aisha so that the British government will back them in whatever way [49].
Conclusion
The Shirazi network identifies as Shia, but it is outraged by the establishment and power of the Islamic Republic as the world’s only Shia government. It fancies itself a follower of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUH), yet it has no regard for true Islam. According to the materials revealed, British Shiism is a Zionist movement that has abducted many naive Muslim youth, particularly in Iraq and England. Today, Zionists, using their experience from previous sect creations, have developed a sect known as Shia with the goal of portraying the Shia as murderous and ignorant, and they will do anything to back it. They accurately calculated that if Muslims quarrel and argue with one another, they will lose sight of their true adversary [50], and this way, Zionism will be able to carry out its terrible plans in the globe without any nation or group fighting against it or disturbing it.
